Memory Bites Quick

memory bites quick.
a sharp, cruel pang that lingers
and pales to ache, then...
your hand on my back. your kiss...
burns. I am helpless
to fend off my attacker.
"Something is missing."
your last words ring in my heart.
I try to forget
but then...your back as you left
stabs, pales, stabs again.

There You Are

Across the table
I see you differently
A bigger picture
Of what we are together
Greater than the sum

Love at a Distance

Still surprised to find
Goodbye doesn't have to hurt.
I thought pain meant the
Love was real but I was wrong.

Inconstancy and
Fear does not signal true love.
Apart and at a
Distance does not mean broken.

I do miss you but
I am not destroyed by the
Sensation. Turns out
This is how it ought to be.

Smiley

Plain 'ol mean people
Who think they're being funny
As they insult you,
Need a forced smiley bagging.
Schwap! I'm just saying.

Haunted

Ghosts live in this place.
Secrets clinging to the moss
Pollenate the breeze.
Bringing to my cheek the chill
Of lonely long lost.

Still Fighting

Still fighting but the
fight seems long and her strength wanes.
Time for inner strength.
(And some revolver platforms.)

Cookie, cookie, cookie, cookie...

Do you remember
When Cookie Monster ate all
Of Ernie's cookies?

That crazed blue puppet
Gulped them down. How the crumbs flew!
And how I laughed.

But what of my kids?
What will make them laugh like that?
Cartoons scare me now.

Is it possible
That thirty years ago was
A much simpler time?

Back in Blog!

10 Totally Random Haikus to Celebrate My Return to the Blogosphere

ONE
It seemed like a good
Idea at the time,
Now its just itchy.

TWO
Twenty nine again?
You have a way of aging
Backwards, patent it.

THREE
I ate it but then
After chewing and swallowing
I regretted it.

FOUR
Days in Hawaii
Feel like mere minutes in time
Here a mere minute
Feels like an eternity.

FIVE
Ahh, the subtle sound
Of my ukulele song,
A bit out of tune.
(The girl in 12E hates me.)

SIX
Chocolate icing
On chocolate chip cupcakes
Chocouphoria.

SEVEN
Bright yellow pollen
On my car, in my nose, and
on my clothes. AahChoo!

EIGHT
Black sky rolls creeping
Across my 8th story view.
Forboding, silent.

NINE
Ben Franklin tells me
"Oh, stop your belly-aching."
And, of course, he's right.

TEN
Already its May.
Where have the days gone down the
Endless stream of time?

Sea Glass Beach

Kauai
Each morning she walks
the sea glass beach, collecting
blue, green and turquoise
glass to sell to the lady
in the big pink pearls
who uses them to steal from
the silly tourists
